Welcome to the Elenkiwich family blog. We will post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Miles, who we welcomed on April 2, 2010. Our hope is that this blog will help us stay connected with family and friends even when life is crazy!

Bye-Bye Pacifier?

Miles has been rebelling against the paci lately (yesterday and today)...he actually makes horrible faces and shoves his tongue out when we offer it to him! We've tried giving him the different styles and no luck :) However, he is much closer to getting his little thumb in his mouth and is constantly sucking on his hands! I guess despite our best efforts we are going to have a little thumb-sucker on our hands! I just thought I would post my favorite "paci-picture" since I don't think we will be seeing many more of them!

We also went rummage sale shopping today and were quite successful..we found several books, baby sneakers, a cute button-down shirt and two pairs of pants...all for Miles, of course! We also tried out a play-mat from Babies-R-Us but it was defective and Miles wasn't too impressed with it (we returned it). Tomorrow we have Aunt Shawna's graduation and we are really excited to spend the day with family!

Butterfly House

We had visitors from Denver, CO this weekend for Miles' baptism...Abby and Aubrey. Aubrey is 15 months and so we had a ton of fun taking the kiddos to the zoo and to the Sertoma Butterfly House. Eric helped Aubrey "catch" the butterflies and Miles slept the entire time!

SMILES

Miles has officially outgrown his newborn clothes (as well as NB size diapers) and is moving into the 0-3 month set! Today he debuted several outfits since he spits up numerous times per day. I also caught a few smiles on camera so all in all, a successful day!

Mom vs. Ceiling Fan

And the winner is...the ceiling fan.

Miles is 5 weeks old today and he is really starting to have longer awake periods where he is quietly alert, looking around and taking everything in. Chelsey has been really excited for this and brought out books, rattles, stuffed animals...pretty much an entire arsenal of baby toys.

Unfortunately for his mommy, she has to compete for his attention with the ceiling fan...and she usually loses! Miles is completely enraptured. It's not even moving (or singing, smiling and waving) and he just can't get enough! So today, the final score is ceiling fan...1 and mom...0

Better luck tomorrow, I guess!

We also made a trip to the mall today to visit Aunt Alli and her friends. Miles was a big hit and everyone got a kick out of his constant grunting noises. Last night, Eric decided that the grunting noises along with his little balled up fists are reminiscent of Beavis, from "Beavis and Butthead." A new (not-so-cute) nickname for Mr. Miles...thanks Dad!
