Welcome to the Elenkiwich family blog. We will post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Miles, who we welcomed on April 2, 2010. Our hope is that this blog will help us stay connected with family and friends even when life is crazy!

Allergy Uh-oh

Well, Miles had his first brush with an allergic reaction this week. I made him some whole-wheat macaroni and cheese. He wasn't interested at all, ate a few bites and started whining and fussing. This was especially strange since he loves trying new foods. By the time I got him out of his high-chair, he was covered from head to toe in hives (especially around his mouth and hands). So for now on, Miles won't be eating any wheat or dairy products until we can figure out which caused the reaction. Poor baby...we were really hoping he didn't inherit his Mommy's food allergies. On a happier note, he loves loves loves broccoli (any veggies really) and had a ton of fun eating it today :) He is also really close to crawling, he gets up on all fours and rocks. And something that his mom is really excited about, only waking up 2 times per night! Can't wait to see everyone for the holidays :)

Oh Christmas Tree!

Well, Eric and I got out the Christmas decorations this week. The first thing Miles did was roll over to the tree and attempt to rip open a present! We will see how long the presents (and the tree!) last :)

Just Like Daddy

The other night Miles was having a pretty rough time with this teething business. He was really unhappy and fussy and got to sleep with Mom and Dad. He woke up really early in the morning just screaming and I decided to strip him out of his pajamas to see if something else was wrong...evidently that is all he wanted because he fell right to sleep. I told Eric that Miles wants to be just like his Daddy and sleep in his underwear :) I also included some pictures of Miles playing with his cousin and hanging out with "the boys."

Brave Baby

Miles had his 2nd dose of the influenza vaccine today and he was such a brave little man! He let out one big yell and then he was fine...what a trooper. Tommorrow we are going to make some Thanksgiving crafts, will try to post some pictures of that adventure soon :) He is scooting and rolling all over the place and rocks back and forth on his hands and knees...crawling is just around the corner! Here is a picture of him underneath his jumper (he scooted there himself)! The other picture is Miles mid-roll, I haven't managed to get a good picture of him trying to crawl just yet.

Welcome Back!

We just got a new computer, so I can post pictures of Miles again :) I have a few random shots from home and several from our trip to Denver, CO. It was Miles' first time flying and he was wonderful, slept most of the flight and smiled at all the other passengers. We went to Boo at the Zoo with Abby, Chris and Aubrey and had fun looking at all the animals.

Big Boy!

Miles is getting so big, he sits up by himself in his baby bathtub now and he loves splashing water all over the kitchen and mom and dad! I took him to the park today and we sat in the grass and watched the bigger kids playing. He got excited when they laughed and screamed...made him giggle really hard :) He also sat up by himself long enough for mom to take a few pictures, toppled over once or twice but the grass was nice and soft.

Labor Day Weekend in Okoboji

We had a really fun long weekend with family this year. Chelsey and Miles spent Friday in Brookings and hung out with Grandpa Wes and Aunt Allison. We also visited the Gift Gallery girls and Eric at work. Saturday night, Uncle Austin came to babysit Miles while Eric and Chelsey worked, hope they had fun! Sunday morning we headed to Okoboji to spend the rest of the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa E, Uncle Ross, Sara and the Anderson family. We had a ton of fun and Miles played in sand for the first time :) He also got to go swimming with his daddy. Then he spent all day Monday shopping and hanging out with everybody. What a trooper!
